Boredom can foster creativity.
Before our daughter Louise was born, my husband and I decided that we will not give her access to screens for as long as we could.
4 years ago, we packed our TV and put it in a storage where it has been since.
She could only use screens on 2 occasions:
1/ video calling the family
2/ on airplanes for flights longer than 4h
And over the years she has created so many incredible games:
* Giving an incredible life to pencils,
* Building fabulous Lego houses,
* Becoming super talented at drawing,
* Telling fascinating stories,
* Singing passionately,
* Getting curious about art, books, writing, cooking, crafts…
Along the way she made me reconsider my own creativity. She made me reduce my use of screens and I had to come up with games out of my imagination.
She reminded me of the fun that can come out of a world with less distraction.
She made me notice all of the times where I pick up my phone to kill time.
Boredom can foster creativity.
What would happen if you removed the distractions from your life for 1 week and allowed yourself to get bored?
With love,
Caroline
