You've made it to the weekend (almost) and if you are US-based I hope you are getting Monday off.
This week's email is about the thing that created the most significant shift in my life in the past 2 years: sleep.
Like many top athletes, LeBron James sleeps between 8 and 9h per night + a 2 to 3h nap during the day, EVERY SINGLE DAY!
Why sleep makes you a better performer and a happier person?
The Brain:
*Sharper cognition: you think, learn and remember more sharply
*Better mood regulation: improves your ability to cope with difficult situations and you make better choices
*Greater alertness: improves your ability to promptly and vigilantly meets danger or emergency
The Body:
*Increased metabolism: provides more energy, and aids in weight loss (and keep it off)
*Accelerated tissue repair: you heal faster
*Boosted immune function: your risk of illnesses are lowered
Why wouldn't we sleep more???!
I was always a good sleeper. And I naturally prioritized sleep over everything but work. Before I had my daughter my daily routine was: work, commute, quick dinner in front of a TV show with my husband, sleep, repeat.
And then Louise was born and she has been all sorts of amazing AND she was NOT a good sleeper AT ALL (like waking me up from 5 to 12 times a night 😫). And that’s when I started to spiral down until I hit burnout.
Here's what I know now through research and through my own experience.
When it’s a one-off like one or two bad nights in a row, things are tough but you'll pull through.
When you get weeks or months of little sleep and/or poor quality sleep, there is no way out of the pain until you find a way to prioritize recovery and rest.
Trust me! Get your sleep first because everything else will work better once you do.
With love,
Caroline
PS: Just to be clear, this is a picture of Louise PRETENDING to sleep 😬😂
There are many ways I can support you or your team.
The best way to find out how I can best support you is to book a call.
It's free and it will allow to assess if we are a fit.
