My grandfather served in World War Two as a pilot. All of my grandparents grew up in a time of war and uncertainty. And thankfully they all survived it.
They raised their children (my parents) with values and beliefs that were aligned to their life experiences, prioritizing security over happiness.
And despite not having lived a war themselves my parents raised me with the same values: security and certainty, in hope that I would be happier than they were.
While well intended, their values are the reasons why I wasn’t happy. Because on my journey to security and certainty, I lost touch with what I was born to do, I gave up on my childhood dreams, and I forgot what sparked me.
So many people go through their career and their life maximizing security and certainty.
It saddens me to talk to people who know how unfulfilled they are and to people who don’t want to admit how unhappy they truly are.
I believe life should be filled with adventures, experiences and experiments.
I believe work should feel exciting, and feeding the soul.
And one day I made the decision to quit my security and my certainty for a wild ride filled with unknowns.
It’s scary, it’s unfamiliar, it’s stressful, it’s a mind game and a puzzle.
But I’ve never felt more alive, calmer and happier.
I’m not saying quit your 9 to 5 (which is what I did).
What I’m saying is:
*Figure out what you were born to do and do it.
*Do more of what makes you happy.
With love,
Caroline
PS: If you're a parent, let your kids dream their big wild dreams and be themselves, so they can remember what makes their heart sing as they grow up.
PS2: This picture of me was taken by my mother when I was about 2 years old, when life felt easy and magical.
There are many ways I can support you or your team.
The best way to find out how I can best support you is to book a call.
It's free and it will allow to assess if we are a fit.
