I grew up believing that I didn't like to read.
It turns out it's one of my most exciting things to do. And I'm so happy that Louise also shares this passion.
I read between 20 and 30 books last year. She read probably 100.
Today, I'm sharing some of our favorite books.
Money:
The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel - 2 things I took from this must read are: First, you could replace the work money with almost anything else and you would still have the most valuable book. Second, the end of the book explained so much about Americans' relationship to wealth. All of a sudden so much of what made no logical sense to me was explained.
I Will Teach You To Be Rich by Ramit Sethi - Okay he made me feel like I knew a lot about money so maybe I'm biased ;) yet I learned a ton with his book. Plus, it's a workbook filled with actionable tools to use.
Mindset:
Can't Hurst Me by David Goggins - Talk about unfavorable life circumstances and making the most of them! Goggins shares how he overcame so many obstacles and achieved impossible goals. I ended the book thinking "okay I really have 0 valid excuses in life." It's humbling.
Business:
$100M Offers by Alex Hormozi - A reference for anyone launching a business. It's a mine of valuable information along with practical exercises and examples to help you craft your offer.
Profit First by Mike Michalowicz - A different approach to profit, with a step-by-step to apply to your finances immediately and increase your profit. It works for both entrepreneurs and employees.
The 10x Rule by Grant Cardone - Cardone shares concepts that are not talked about in general and that I found to be in line with my own experience. He helped me reframe my mindset as a business owner in a powerful way. Look for chapters on Criticism and Omnipresence in particular.
Creativity:
Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert - In this easy read, Gilbert shares the interesting perspective she has about ideas: they choose you. She messed up with my thinking while being aligned with my own experience.
Relationship:
Attached by Dr Amir Levine and Rachel S.F. Heller M.A - Rediscover all your relationships from a new life changing perspective. All your challenges make sense once you understand the specificities of attachment styles. This should be taught at school!
Louise's favorite books are:
*The Mermaid With No Tail by Jessica Long - Long, 29x Paralympics medalist, is among the most decorated and winningest female athlete in the US and tells her story in a kids book. It's a beautiful story filled with life lessons for readers of all ages.
*Coco Chanel in the Little People, BIG DREAMS collection - Louise loves the idea of opening a hat shop like Gabrielle Chanel. There's something magical about incredible true stories, don't you think?
*What Should Darla Do? by Ganit & Adir Levy - This book contains 8 stories in 1. After each section the child is asked to make a decision that impacts how the story unfolds. It's great to help your kid understand the consequences of their choices.
*Dear Girl by Amy Krouse Rosenthal & Paris Rosenthal (also exist as Dear Boy) - It's been a comfort book for Louise which gave her permission to express herself as a powerful little girl. It's a must read for young kids.
*Pete the Cat's Groovy Guide To Life by Kimberly & James Dean - This collection of quotes is wisdom I love going back to myself (this one is probably more of my favorite than Louise's :) )
With love,
Caroline
